SAFETY : Competitors may use a leader. Strengths compatible with their ability.
Rule 1 A 'V' Shaped court shall be used (see diagram). All casting shall be done with wind. Once an Event has started the Court direction can not be changed except in exceptional circumstances when the Judge and his/her deputy may decide the direction of casting.
Rule 2 All casts must be made from ground level; the use of elevated positions is not allowed. Casting shall be done from behind a board forming the front of the casting area.
Rule 3 The Competitor shall stand behind, clear of and within the bounds of, the board. If the Caster oversteps the board during or following his/her cast it will not be counted.
Rule 4 The weight shall come to rest inside and not touch the side lines of the Court.
Rule 5 No cast shall be measured if the weight or lead is not attached to the line and reel.
Rule 6 (a) All casts shall be made without assistance. However the use of devices such as the Robinson Casting Aid is acceptable.
(b) Replacement of tackle may be made providing this can be done within the given time limit.
(c) Five minutes repair time will be allowed for each
Championships.
C. New Zealand - these can be set and broken at any NZACA sanctioned competition such as the Nationals or Postal Casting.
Competitor in an Event. The repair time starts from when the Caster should have entered the box or appeared for his/her turn.
Rule 7(a) Prior to commencement of the Event the Judge or his/her deputy shall examine each competitor's equipment to ensure it complies with the rules. Only tackle which has been examined and approved in this way may be used.
7(b) All Competitors lines to be tested at all Casting Events immediately after the first cast has been made.
Rule 8 The Judge or his/her deputy shall bar any equipment, casting technique or behaviour considered unsporting or contrary to the rules or giving an unfair advantage.
Rule 9 The Judge may use his/her discretion to allow a Competitor extra time or casts if justified by outside interference or other mishaps beyond the Casters control.
Rule 10 Any cast made in contravention of these rules shall not be scored and the Competitor shall be penalised by the loss of the cast.
Rule 11 The decision of the Judge in any Event or dispute shall be final.
Rule 12 Each Competitor shall be allowed three (3) casts in Distance
Event and three (3) casts in the Accuracy Events.
Rule 13 Only Affiliated Members may compete in the Competition.
There will be eight classes Male, Female, Veteran Lady, Veteran Male (Veterans over 55 years), Golden Oldie Female, Golden Oldie Male (Golden Oldies over 65 years), Junior (12 to under 17*) and Midget (under 12* years)

A Competitor having multiple Club Membership can only submit one Postal Casting entry.
Rule 14 Entries for inclusion in the Postal Casting must be submitted to the NZACA by the 1st. November each year on a sanctioned entry form which must be signed by a Club Official declaring that the competition was run according to these rules herein.
Rule 15 Points scoring for All Round Champions are : One (1) point per metre for the competitor's longest cast in Distance Event measured to two decimal places plus a maximum score of 40 points for each cast awarded in the Accuracy Event with two (2) points will be deducted for each metre distance from aiming target measured to two decimal places.
Rule 16 Records There will be three(3) sets of records, being :-
A. Postal - set only at Postal.
B. National - set only at National
Rule 17 Equipment - Reels shall be stock pattern originally available through Retail sources. Rods shall be unrestricted.
Rule 18(a) Sinkers must be weighed by Club Officials at Postal Casting and by National Executive Members, or those nominated by them, at National Championships.

18(b) Sinkers may be of any size or shape but conform to policy of not exceeding stipulated weights.
18(c) A tolerance of 2% will be allowed in respect to weights.
Rule 19 HANDICAP will be based on previous years best casts in each Event. There would be a maximum handicap of 100 for all Competitors casting under 100 metres including new Participants.
Rule 20 Competitors may request to attempt for past New Zealand Records (previous Postal Casting Records). This is permitted and covers weights in Distance Events of 57gm(2oz), 113gm(4oz) and 170gm(6oz); and in Accuracy Events of 60m,70 m 80m 90m and 100metres.
Results must be submitted on a separate event sheet and be countersigned by an official at the event declaring the event and equipment used met all requirements.
