Fishing Rules

Entries must be to National Secretary by 1 March 2012. The maximum bag limits and minimum sizes for the qualifying species for both shore and boat fishing are as shown:-

Competition bag limit is total for both days.

Championship points are scored on the basis of the following formula:-

One point, plus the fish weight in kilograms multiplied by the species factor (1+(weight * species factor)).

No fish under 500g will qualify regardless of its length.

Fish should be presented in a clean condition. Only the fish you intend to weigh should be brought to the weigh station. If you sort fish in front of the Weigh-master, you may be asked to go to the back of the line.

All fish must be presented at the weigh-in at the designated time.

Fish that are not eligible for points can be presented at the weigh-in for Record or Award purposes. These should be presented to the Weigh-master after competition fish have been weighed in.

There will be no unwanted bait, fish or fish carcasses disposal facilities available at these National Championships. Competitors will need to make their own arrangements but are urged to consider principles of waste management and not by any action bring disrepute on the event or the Association.

If, in the opinion of the organizing committee, competitors have breached the spirit of the competition, then the committee reserves the right to exclude the competitor(s). The committee’s decision will be final.

Any failure to observe the stated fishing times will result in disqualification. All entrants, boat owners and spectators participate at their own risk. The organizers, promoters or any other party connected with the event accept no responsibility in any respect to personal injury, loss or damage to property regardless of the cause.

In the Central Fisheries Management area, there is a combined maximum daily bag limited of 20 fin-fish, plus 10 snapper and a combined bag limit of 5 Hapuka/Bass and Kingfish with no more than 3 Kingfish.

Ministry of Fisheries regulations must be observed. Failure to observe these regulations will result in disqualification from the competition.

The rules included in this handbook are a summary and have been amended as required for the 2012 competition. Note that these amended rules supersede any rules as written in the NZACA Members Manual & Handbook and may differ from IGFA rules.
